Basic Wilderness Survival
The Wilderness Survival School will offer monthly, immersive survival training classes in
McIntosh County, Georgia. Each 3-day course will focus on essential wilderness skills and
target outdoor enthusiasts, preppers, and those seeking unique recreational or team-
building experiences.
Packing List
Mandatory Survival Kit Items:
○ Bag: Small waist or sling bag (≤10–11L). Examples include 5.11 Rush Moab 6 or similar.
○ Water Containers: Two bottles, ≥1 quart each.
○ Firestarter: Ferrocerium rod and steel striker.
○ Compass: Lensatic or map compass, with fluid housing, orienting lines, and rotating bezel.
○ Bug Protection: Bug spray and/or bug net.
○ Clothing: Change of socks.
○ Water Purification: Iodine tablets and/or small water filter, Steripen, or other purification
method.
○ Shelter Material: Blanket or small bedroll (no sleeping bags).
○ Signaling: Signal mirror, whistle.
○ Firestarter (Secondary): BIC lighter.
○ Cutting Tool: Fixed-blade knife with sheath.
○ Multipurpose Cloth: Bandana/Buff/Neck Gaiter.
○ Cooking Gear: Metal canteen cup or small backpacking pot, single-wall metal water bottle
with lid (not insulated).
○ Hygiene Items: Toothbrush, toothpaste, basic personal hygiene supplies.
● Optional Items:
○ Small personal survival tin (Altoids-tin size).
○ Small first aid kit.
○ Swiss Army Knife or multi-tool.
○ Change of clothes, wet wipes.
○ Prescription medications, glasses (avoid contacts if possible).

Day 1
0700 (7:00am) - Arrival at the designated meeting location. Cars will be left at this location for the duration of the weekend.

Distribution of course materials and equipment.
0800 (8:00am) - Enroute to training location (dependant on tides)
0900 (9:00am) - Gather at training location site

1030 (10:30am) - Land Navigation
1600 (4:00pm) - Shelter improvements and group challenges
Day 3
Sunrise 0622 (6:20am) - Morning routine, Basic Hygein, cleanup for exit
0800 (8:00am) - Begin FTX to extraction.
1200 (12:00pm) - ENDEX -
1230 (12:30pm) - Written Exam?
